Buy Unit Operations Of Chemical Engineering: 7th Edition Second hand books, Authored by warren l. mccabe, Mcgraw Hill in paperback binding from Used Book Store.
This seventh edition of “Unit Operations of Chemical Engineering” maintains its established legacy as a cornerstone text in Chemical Engineering. For undergraduates, it remains the most comprehensive introduction to the field, with dedicated chapters for each major unit operation. These are organized into four key sections: fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mass transfer and equilibrium stages, and operations involving particulate solids. The text continues to offer a balanced approach, integrating theoretical principles with practical engineering applications, supported by numerous illustrative examples. Over 30% of the problems have been updated or are entirely new, addressing contemporary subjects such as food processing and biotechnology. Unique topics covered include diafiltration, adsorption, and membrane operations. Key features of this edition include: A balanced treatment of theory and engineering practice, enhanced with practical illustrative examples. An expanded section on fluid viscosity in Chapter 3, now incorporating fundamental theories for both gases and liquids. The mass transfer section includes dedicated chapters on adsorption and membrane operations. Up-to-date correlations for heat transfer, mass transfer, and equipment design. A revised discussion of filter cake washing. A new chapter on Adsorption and Fixed-Bed Separations, detailing the application of powdered carbon for aqueous waste treatment in tanks and expanded-bed adsorption for purifying fermentation broths. Revised sections in the distillation chapters covering flash distillation, flooding limits, and plate efficiency. Added correlations for drying rates and a treatment of dryer thermal efficiency.
About the Author
Warren L. McCabe (1899–1982) was a distinguished figure in chemical engineering. Holding a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, he made significant contributions as Vice President and Director of Research at Flintkote Company. His academic career included serving as Dean of Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and holding the R. J. Reynolds Professorship in Chemical Engineering at North Carolina State University. He also served a term as President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Julian C. Smith is Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at Cornell University, where he joined the faculty in 1946. He led Continuing Engineering Education and the School of Chemical Engineering during his tenure. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a chemical engineer for E.I. duPont de Nemours and Co. and has consulted on process development for numerous companies and government agencies. He is a member of the American Chemical Society and a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Peter Harriott is the Fred H. Rhodes Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at Cornell University, where he began his teaching career in 1953. His industry experience includes roles as a chemical engineer for E.I. duPont de Nemours and Co. and General Electric Co. Professor Harriott has been recognized with prestigious fellowships from the NSF and the DOE. Author of “Process Control and Chemical Reactor Design,” he is a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and has provided expert consultancy to the U.S. Department of Energy and various industrial firms.
