About the Author
Mario Vaz is a Professor of Physiology at St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore. He has received several awards for teaching. His research interests are in the evaluation of the functional consequences of altered nutritional states. His other interests are in the History of Medicine and in Humanities and Health, a division of which he heads at the St. John’s Research Institute. Anura Kurpad is Professor of Physiology at St John’s Medical College, Bengaluru. He was the Founding Dean of St John’s Research Institute. His interests are in metabolic and nutritional physiology. He is Associate Editor of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and co-Editor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London) and Margdarshi Fellow of the Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance.
Tony Raj is a Professor of Physiology at St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, where he joined as faculty in 1995. His early career research interests included metabolic physiology, essential amino acid requirements, body composition and Insulin sensitivity. His current research interests include innovative digital health interventions to improve health outcomes in resource-constrained settings. He is the Dean of St. John’s Research Institute, where he also heads the Division of Medical Informatics.
