About the Author
Sam Pitroda is an internationally recognized telecommunications inventor, entrepreneur, development thinker, and policymaker who has spent fifty years dealing with information and communication technology (ICT) and related global and national developments. Mr. Pitroda is credited with laying the foundation for India’s telecommunications and technology revolution of the 1980s and was a leading activist to help bridge the global digital divide. He was also the founder and first chairman of the Indian Telecom Commission. Most recently, Pitroda served as an adviser to the Prime Minister of India on public information infrastructure and innovation, holding the rank of Cabinet Minister. Mr. Pitroda is a serial entrepreneur who has founded several companies in the United States. He holds more than fifteen honorary doctorates, and nearly 100 patents worldwide, and has published and lectured extensively in the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Asia. David Chanoff holds a BAPh.D.om Johns Hopkins University and a PhD in English and American Literature from Brandeis University. He has written on literary history, foreign policy, refugee issues, education, and other topics for publications such as American Scholar, New Republic, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Journal of American Education.
