About the Author
J.R. Mudakavi, Principal Research Scientist at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, holds a Ph.D. in the separation and determination of trace quantities of platinum and palladium (1977, IIT Madras) and an M.Sc. in Chemistry (1972, IIT Bombay). His 30-year research career encompasses environmental pollution control, modern instrumental methods of analysis, trace and ultra-trace determination of metals and organics, process development, and activated carbon fibers. He has authored over 75 publications in national and international journals, chaired numerous seminar sessions, and received the Best Engineering Material Development Award for his work on activated carbon fabric for breathing masks. Dr. Mudakavi has supervised one Ph.D. and ten M.Sc./M.E. students and undertaken numerous consultancy projects for various organizations.
