This is a used English-language textbook on Fluid Mechanics. It covers the following topics: 1. Properties of Fluids: Introduces basic concepts, definitions, fluid properties, and flow regimes, including stability criteria.
2. Fluid Statics: Explains Pascal’s law, pressure variation in static fluids, and hydrostatic forces on submerged plane and curved surfaces.
3. Fluid Kinematics: Discusses fluid flow concepts, lines of flow, types of functions, potential functions for 2-D flow, and their relationship with flow nets.
4. Dimensional Analysis: Covers dimensions of physical quantities, Buckingham’s theorem, Raleigh’s method, and key dimensionless numbers for similitude.
5. Fluid Dynamics: Presents general energy and momentum equations, Euler’s equation of motion along a streamline, Bernoulli’s equation derived from fundamentals and the all-in-one equation, and Bernoulli’s equation for real fluids.
6. Fluid Flow Measurements: Details the use of Venturimeters, orifice meters, and Pitot tubes.
7. Flow Through Pipes: Examines friction loss and minor losses in pipe flow, along with energy and hydraulic gradient lines, and the Drezy and Chezy equations.
8. Laminar Flow and Viscous Effects: Explains Reynolds number, critical Reynolds number, laminar flow through round pipes using Hagen-Poiseuille’s equation, and laminar flow between parallel stationary plates.
9. Flow Past Immersed Bodies: Covers lift and drag, skin friction and form drag, the boundary layer concept, and calculations for laminar boundary layer thickness, displacement, and momentum thickness.
10. Introduction to Compressible Flow: Introduces sonic velocity, Mach number, isentropic flow, and the speed of sound waves.
