About the Author

A foundational figure in the field, Dr. Mandal established the geosynthetics research and testing laboratory in 1984, introducing the first undergraduate and postgraduate courses on geosynthetics. His leadership has driven significant global advancements in this emerging area. He is the author or editor of six books and founded the India chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society in 1988. Dr. Mandal’s influence extends to organizing seminal events, including the first Indian Geotextile Conference in 1988 and chairing the International Conference of Geosynthetics and Geoenvironmental Engineering in 2004.
