The German campaign in France during the summer of 1940 was pivotal to Hitler’s ambitions and fundamentally affected the course of the Second World War. German forces delivered a swift, efficient, and decisive military victory over the Allied forces, despite internal disagreements over fighting methods leading up to the campaign. In just six weeks, Germany achieved what had eluded their predecessors during the four years of the First World War, dramatically altering the balance of power in Europe. As Lloyd Clark demonstrates in this enthralling book, this outcome was far from certain.
